TRS 383 Race and Religion
This course addresses the intersections of race and religion in the U.S. from the standpoints of religious studies, theology, church history, and ethics. A central concern will be the role of religion in the lives of Black Americans under conditions of slavery, segregation, and structural injustice. Students will also explore the role of race in shaping religious communities including Catholics and the Black church. Other racialized groups will also be considered.
