MGT 327 Sportsmanship: Leadership and Ethics in Sports

Spring Semester Only. This course is designed to provide students with a fundamental understanding of good sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork, and the like and to instill in students a desire to possess them. Sport has the power to thrill and disappoint, to unite and divide, to uplift and debase. It has the power to convert people, individually or en masse, into understanding and grateful creatures or enraged and petty ones. In a word, sport is transformative. The primary goal of this course is to familiarize students with key theories and concepts, current issues, and future trends in three distinct areas: leadership, ethics, and sportsmanship. Ultimately, it is to prepare students to transform society through the common global phenomenon of sports by forming the persons who participate in and spectate at sporting activities.
