ANTH 201 Ethnographic Research Methods
This course introduces qualitative research methods for projects investigating social life and culture. This includes accounting for ethical issues in human subjects research, developing research questions, and building data collection skills through, for example, participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and media analysis. The course centers Computer-Aided Qualitative Data Analysis (CAQDA) software to gather, organize data, and interpret information gathered by the class throughout the term. Students also learn how to present the results of their research as charts, visuals, and ethnographic vignettes.
