Bachelor of Science in Architecture IPAL Program
The requirements for the major can be found at Architecture - Bachelor of Science in Architecture (B.S.Arch.)
IPAL is the Integrated Path towards Architectural Licensure. It provides students the opportunity to complete requirements for licensure while earning their degree. NCARB oversees the IPAL initiative, but individual schools are responsible for managing their own curricula. The initiative encourages NAAB-accredited programs to incorporate the Architectural Experience Program™(AXP™) and the opportunity to take the Architect Registration Examination® (ARE®) while completing their academic requirements. The IPAL option does not replace the NAAB-accredited program, but adds an additional path within an already existing program.
Students in the IPAL program follow the same curriculum as the students in the BS. Arch and M. Arch 1.5 degree programs. All first year students are invited into the program and are required to fill out an application that requires students to agree to the program requirements. In special circumstances, transfer students may be admitted into the program with the approval of the IPAL Director. Students are expected to intern each summer of the 6-year academic program and take all 6 ARE Exams.
