SPAN 207 Advanced Spanish for HealthCare I

This is the first course of a two-semester sequence of Advanced Spanish for Healthcare, emphasizing continued practice in conducting medical assessments in Spanish, including health encounters, history-taking, and physical assessments. The curriculum incorporates structural review alongside immersive, practical dialogues that address real-world scenarios encountered by healthcare professionals in their workplaces. With a primary focus on enhancing oral and listening skills to facilitate fluid conversation, students will delve into Hispanic perspectives on health, illness, and responses to various symptoms, diseases, and treatments, all conducted in Spanish. Classroom sessions will prioritize hands-on oral practice, featuring realistic dialogues that simulate typical provider-patient interactions. Designed for students in nursing, psychology, biomedical engineering, biology, and social work, this course requires prior experience with Spanish. Instructed exclusively in Spanish.
