MSM 608 Organizational Leadership/Management of Non-Profit/Non-Governmental Organizations

This course provides an overview of the functions of nonprofit and non-governmental leaders in their recruitment and management of teams of paid employees and unpaid volunteers. The course will focus on how leaders must develop skills to successfully interact with board members, who are an integral part of the leadership team. With readings and in-depth discussion, the course will concentrate on board responsibilities include establishing the organization's mission and selecting a chief executive, and how leadership and board members alike must be well-versed in nonprofit structure and governance.
