MATH 498 Undergraduate Comprehensive Examination
The Comprehensive Exam is a written examination administered during the fall semester of the student's senior year. It assesses material from the following courses:
MATH 121,
MATH 122,
MATH 301 and
MATH 321. Students majoring in Mathematical Finance take a modified version of the exam, which includes material from
MATH 434 (Introduction to Mathematical Finance) in place of the material from
MATH 321.
The exam consists of six problems based on the content of the courses listed above. Each problem is graded on a 0 to 10-point scale, with a maximum possible score of 60 points.
· A passing score is 31 points or higher
· To be considered for honors, a student must achieve at least 46 points.
The Comprehensive Exam is coordinated by the Chair of the Comprehensive Exam/Contest Committee. The date of the exam is determined in consultation with the students to accommodate their schedules.
