GS 210 Health and Global Society-Europe and the Americas

This course examines how health and healthcare are shaped by social, political, economic, and historical processes in European and American contexts. It explores regional and global health systems and their responses to health challenges, with attention to health inequalities, migration, birth rates, aging populations, environmental health, and public health policy. Through comparative case studies from diverse regions and through artistic representations in film, students analyze how social and political structures, globalization, and governance shape health outcomes at regional and global scales. The course encourages students to reflect critically and ethically on issues related to global health and responsibility. Prerequisites: None
