ANTH 105 Biological Anthropology
Biological anthropology explores human biological diversity through the lens of genetics, evolution, and adaptation. In this course, students learn about what makes us human by exploring the scientific principles behind diversity between and within human and non-human species. The course also examines the evolutionary history of our species, Homo sapiens, as well as that of non-human primates. The course is designed to explore how the scientific method is used in anthropological inquiry, how we frame research questions, and how we create and implement a research design. At the conclusion of the course, you will have learned how biological anthropologists ask and answer questions, collect and analyze data, and reach conclusions. In addition, you will be able to use biocultural knowledge to evaluate popular questions about evolution, race, and human diversity.
