TRS 339 Technology at the Margins of Life and Death

It has become almost a clich to note that new technologies are provoking urgent ethical questions. In many cases, however, the ethical ideas and arguments in play are ones both Catholic and non-Catholic thinkers have been engaging for several decades and even centuries. This course examines these technologies and ethical questions in some detail, giving particular attention to how they play at the margins of life and death. Topics considered include: radical life extension, brain death, IVF, PGD, IVG, CRISPR.
