TRS 326 The Theology of Thomas Aquinas

Pope Pius XI famously wrote: Just as it was said to the Egyptians in time of famine: Go to Joseph for grain to nourish their bodies, We say to all who desire truth: Go to Thomas, for the food of substantial doctrine. In this course we will Go to Thomas by studying some of the most important works of the common and universal Doctor of the Church, from his Summa theologiae and elsewhere. Topics will range from his theology of God, salvation history, the virtues and the moral life, the nature and role of Jesus Christ, the Church and sacraments, and the nature of man and the angels. Readings will be placed in historical context and their enduring legacy to the Church and theology will be emphasized.
