SOC 372 Comparative Juvenile Justice

Delinquency is a relevant issue around the world, shaped by its unique national context. This course provides a comparative analysis of juvenile justice systems across different countries, with a focus on Europe, North America, Brazil, Singapore, and Japan. Students will explore the historical, cultural, and legal contexts that have contributed to juvenile justice processes and policies in these countries and compare them to the system in the United States. Through case studies, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of juvenile justice systems vary in approaches and outcomes.
