MUS 223 Harmony III

A continuation of 124, with emphasis on chromatic harmony, altered chords, remote modulations, extended tertian sonorities, introduction to harmonic practices of the late nineteenth and post-tonal repertoire, continued study of form. Includes written and keyboard assignments. Musicianship component (ear training and sight singing): advanced modulation, chromatic harmony, and complex rhythms. Can be taken concurrently with 224. includes introduction to modes, post-tonal, and folk/popular repertoire. Rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic dictation, aural discrimination, intonation.
