POL 512A African American Political Thought
This course introduces students to the history, development, and central themes of African American political thought. Our journey will address perennial questions of political philosophy (e.g., what is human nature? What is God's providence? How do we achieve a just democracy?) while also highlighting the radical challenges facing African Americans (e.g., enslavement, white supremacy, discrimination). This discussion-based course invites students to engage in critical reading, argumentative analysis, and constructive conversation.
