SPAN 107 Spanish for HealthCare I
This is the first course of a two-semester sequence of Spanish for Healthcare. Students are introduced to fundamental principles of Medical Spanish necessary for working in the field of medicine and healthcare. Emphasis on developing conversational and written skills needed to deal with medical situations through lectures, role-playing, dialogues, and cultural immersion activities. Designed for nursing, psychology, biology, biomedical engineering, and social work students; previous experience with Spanish is required. Instruction is conducted exclusively in Spanish. Native or heritage speakers should consult instructors for appropriate placement. If a student takes the MLL Language Placement exam and is placed in SPAN 102; they can register for SPAN 107. Students with less than 2 years of high school Spanish are directed to enroll in SPAN 101 before advancing to SPAN 107. Achieving a minimum grade of B- is requisite for progression to SPAN 108.
