PHIL 375 Rhetoric in Theory and Practice

This course critically analyzes the rhetorical aspects of public discourse, both from philosophical and practical standpoints, focusing on the first rhetorical tenet, invention. The goal of the course is not only to identify the primary rhetorical errors and remedies discussed in ancient, medieval, and contemporary texts, but also to identify the causes of such activities. Students will have the opportunity to develop both rhetorical and philosophical habits through lecture, seminar discussions, and individual presentations. For seminarians only.
