MUS 280 A Practical Introduction to Sacred Music

This course will offer basic training in both the academic and practical elements of sacred music. The goal is to impart a working knowledge of the history of sacred music, select Church documents on music, and the structure of the Mass. The practical elements include how to read Gregorian chant, how to be a church cantor, and how to make music selections for the liturgy. Special emphasis will be given to equipping students with the knowledge and skills to work professionally in Church music as a side gig.
