IRSH 101 Irish Language and Culture I

Irish 101, a first semester Irish-language course, introduces students to the language and culture of modern Ireland. This course stresses self-expression in everyday situations for basic survival needs in Irish-speaking language communities and for personal enjoyment. Students use fundamental vocabulary and grammar structures to talk about daily life and gain insights into aspects of Irish culture through simple reading and listening activities. Class meets four days per week. In this course students work to develop all four language-skills - speaking, reading, listening, and writing. Students who have already participated in CUA's Irish Summer Program and wish to continue with Irish should sign up for Irish 101. Irish 103 and 104 satisfy CUA's language requirement.
