CHN 203 Advanced Composition and Conversation I

This course introduces students to the language and culture of the global Mandarin Chinese-spoken community. It is designed for students with diverse needs and interests in pursuing Chinese as a foreign language. It focuses on students' daily life topics, such as college life, part-time jobs, Chinese geography, etc. Students learn the fundamentals of the Chinese language through contextualized examples and use vocabulary and grammatical structures in real communication. Students who complete this course successfully will reach Intermediate Low proficiency or better. This course also provides students with the opportunity to participate in cultural dialogues and discussions that can facilitate deep learning and meaningful relationship-building in the spirit of the University's mission. This course utilizes a flipped classroom model which assists students to engage in active learning, interactive activities, small group discussions, and presentations.
