CEE 442 Construction Field Operations

Develops a repertoire of techniques for designing and optimizing the processes that compose a built facility in terms of efficiency, time, and cost. Introduces mobilization and site layout; supply chain and materials management; various types and functions of heavy construction equipment; cranes and safety. Structures internal and external factors that determine productivity and; progress measurement with Earned Value Method (EVM)*, and performance improvement. Cost-loading schedules generate the expected cash flow; resource-loading enables optimization via allocation and leveling. Several site visits across the region give exposure to the diverse nature and challenges of real-world projects. Final project applies concepts learned in classes.
