ANTH 352 Archaeological Laboratory Methods

This course develops practical skills in archaeological laboratory methods. Students will learn to "process" archaeological collections: analyzing artifacts and preparing them for long-term curation. Students will learn to wash, sort, catalog, discard, label, and curate archaeological artifacts. They will also learn to build and manipulate databases through MS Excel/Google Sheets, and visualize spatial data in a GIS. This course, in conjunction with classroom instruction in archaeology and anthropology, prepares each student for an entry-level position as an archaeological lab technician.
