MUS 720 Seminar in Music History Topics

An exploration of scholarly approaches to the intersection of music and diplomacy, primarily focusing on the early modern era (especially the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries). Special attention will be given to musical sources, examining them as cultural artifacts that served diplomatic purposes above and beyond their function as preservers of musical notation.
