LSC 851 GIS for the Social Sciences
Geographical Information Systems (GIS) has become as indispensable tool in the social sciences for understanding, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data. This course provides an in-depth exploration of GIS applications within the realm of the social sciences, offering students a comprehensive understanding of how spatial analysis can enhance research in disciplines such as anthropology, sociology, education, economics, political science, public health, and urban studies.
Through a combination of lectures, exercises, and hands-on projects, students will develop proficiency in using ArcGIS Pro, the industry-standard GIS software platform, to address real-world social issues and challenges.
