HIST 601 Historical Analysis and Methodology

This course is an introduction for students in all fields of history to the varieties of current historical research and their analysis at the graduate level. The course will survey the major historiographical schools of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, focusing on the methods, sources, and assumptions of each. Students will analyze major historical works in depth, concentrating upon research design and philosophy but also discussing professional norms and trends.
