TRS 831A The Anthropology of Morals: The Cultural Turn in Ethics

The course examines the relations between religious ethics, moral theology, and cultural anthropology, with a view to illuminating how these fields might mutually benefit from their interactions. Topics will include the use of ethnography in comparative ethics, the "cultural turn" in religious ethics, the articulation of an "everyday ethics" in moral theology, and the ethical turn in anthropology.
