SSS 930 Sociological Theories Influencing Social Work Scholarship and Research
This course examines theoretical perspectives drawn from the classical social sciences that are useful in examining various issues of concern to social workers. The purpose of this course is to familiarize the student with sociological theories that influence scholarship and research in the social work profession. These sociological theoretical perspectives are examined in terms of their assumptions regarding human nature, the nature of the social order, their historical roots, and their application to contemporary social issues. This course will enable students to think deeply, critically, and creatively about the use of theory in professional social work.
