CSC 475 Parallel Programming and High-Performance Computing

This course introduces students to the principles and practices of parallel programming and high-performance computing (HPC). Students will develop practical skills in designing, implementing, and optimizing programs for modern computing architectures. The course also explores emerging trends in large-scale computing, including cloud-based HPC and heterogeneous architectures. A culminating module introduces the fundamentals of quantum computing and examines hybrid quantum-classical workflows, highlighting their potential to address computationally intractable problems. Through hands-on programming assignments and projects, students will gain experience with industry-relevant tools and frameworks, develop an understanding of performance bottlenecks, and learn to design scalable solutions for real-world scientific and data-intensive applications.
