CEE 518 Advanced Environmental Science and Sustainability

This course will focus on the scientific foundations and practical challenges of sustainability in the context of the built environment. Emphasis will include interactions among ecological systems, human activities, and their solutions/consequences. The course will consist of the following topics: climate, biogeochemical cycles, land and water use, pollution, energy systems, resource management, transportation, infrastructure, and environmental engineering. Students will read research papers on each topic, prepare an extended project, and investigate sustainability issues in the field.
