PHIL 348 Love and Friendship as Philosophical Themes

A philosophical exploration of love and friendship as treated in philosophical and literary sources throughout the ages. The course relies on texts by Plato, Aristotle, C. S. Lewis, Alain Badiou, Montaigne, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nehamas, Wendell Berry, and others, including contemporary sources discussing the influence of technology and social media on human connections.
