HIST 358B Postwar America: 1945-1975
This class will focus on the decades following the Second World War in the United States, beginning with the promise of increased prosperity and equality at home and prestige abroad in the first decades after the war and continuing through the disillusionment of Vietnam and Watergate. The class will examine topics such as: the Cold War, the rise of suburbia and the growing middle class, the Civil Rights Movement, the protest movements of the 1960s, the expanding role of women in American life, and the rise of the Conservative Movement.
