LSC 676 Information Ethics and Policy

This course will introduce students to the complex ethical and policy challenges surrounding the management, dissemination, and regulation of information and technology in today's information society. Some of the topics and issues that are covered in this course include: data privacy, intellectual property, equitable access to information, and the social responsibilities of AI. These topics will be explored through real-world cases of non-profits, governments, and businesses. The course emphasizes the complexity of ethical decision-making and the trade-offs between priorities. The course also considers how accountability, responsibility, and the burdens of addressing ethical concerns should be distributed among stakeholders.
