ENT 591 Special Topics in Entrepreneurship
This special topics course on "Enterprise Solutions to Poverty" examines the pivotal role of private sector job creation in driving economic development, reconsidering roles traditionally religatred tostate actors. This course delves into international case studies, both triumphs and setbacks, from Chile and Singapore to Haiti and Rwanda, analyzing the efficacy of diverse international assistance architectures and the impact of internal reforms, foreign direct investment, and essential institutional factors like education, rule of law, and corruption. Students will also explore contemporary geopolitical dynamics, including the USA-China trade war's influence on nearshoring and tariffs, and investigate market-based solutions to climate change, all within a framework emphasizing sustainable, enterprise-driven poverty alleviation.
