SOC 404 Criminal Courts

This course will explore the nature and dynamics of American criminal courts. The course examines the American criminal court system into its three basic components: 1) the structure and purpose, 2) the courtroom workgroup (prosecutors, attorneys, judges, other professionals, defendants, and alleged victims, and 3) case procedures. In this class, we will examine the court system both as an organization and in terms of its component parts. Given this comprehensive vantage point, students will be able to both learn objective information and analyze positives and negatives. Student will be able to demonstrate the application of their knowledge in a variety of modalities.
