MUS 134 Spanish and Latin America Music Appreciation

This course is designed to acquaint non-music students with the history of Spanish and Latin American music and how it draws from the Arab, Jewish, African, Indigenous populations and European music traditions. These influences together have produced a sound that is rich in melodic, harmonic and rhythmic variety. The course will also show how different world events transformed and shaped both the religious and secular music of Latin America and how these influences continue to the present day.
