MRE 135 Wisdom Literature of the Old Testament
This course is an introduction to the theology, content, and structure of the Wisdom Literature of the Old Testament, especially Proverbs, Job, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, and the Book of Wisdom. Both ancient and modern interpretations of these books will be discussed, particularly in light of the Second Vatican Council's Decree on Divine Revelation (Dei Verbum). Moreover, this course investigates various strategies for applying these texts to modern, contemporary situations.
