MPD 122 Medical Spanish Informative
This 5-week online asynchronous course is designed for current and future health care professionals who have minimal experience with Spanish language. This is the second course of a four-course certificate of Spanish for Health Professionals. Participants will practice practical Medical Spanish language skills needed to effectively communicate with Spanish-speaking patients and families. The course has a strong emphasis on developing conversational and written skills needed to deal with medical situations through web-based lectures, role-play exercises, dialogues, voice recordings, interactive video and audio assignments related to the clinical setting. Emphasis is placed on understanding the various language barriers that may occur with Hispanic patients and their effect on health care. This weekly online course allows participants to proceed through the material at their own pace within defined time limits. 3.5 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be awarded upon successful completion of this course.
