MDIA 302 Intro. to Video Production: Media Rhetoric and Aesthetics
Students build upon knowledge from previous courses in the Department of Media Studies by exploring how images and meaning are constructed. Emphasis is on visual literacy and production techniques. This course uses a combination of lecture, hands-on exercises and discussion to introduce students to the aesthetic principles involved in media production. Students will investigate lighting, composition, camera movement, sound and editing, with the aim of further developing critical awareness of audio/visual texts. The course will also provide a technical foundation for beginning media producers.
