FREN 302 Topics in French and Francophone Society and Culture

This course will explore in detail a topic related to French and Francophone society and culture. It will address contemporary issues in the French-speaking world such as immigration, assimilation, laïcité, religion, xenophobia, language policy, education, and political systems by placing them in their social and historical context. The course will rely on a host of sources and documentation but will emphasize intellectual thought and cultural production. Taught in French.
