An examination of the relationship between cultural forms (architecture, art, music, opera, ballet, literature, etc.) and power at the court of Louis XIV. In addition to studying primary texts and cultural artifacts, we will read the work of modern historians and watch recent films that depict life during this fascinating period of French history.
