ENG 213 Short Fiction and Ideas of America

This course uses short fiction from different periods and genres to explore versions of America and Americans, especially in stories with cross cultural settings. The course features stories of Americans at home and abroad as well as the responses of both visitors and immigrants. The course investigates the flexibility of short fiction in its representation of these encounters.
