BE 497 BMED Senior Design

Section 1: Primary component is student design projects in biomedical engineering, with projects focusing on nano- to micro-scale analyses involving cells, tissues, and biomaterials. Also, guest lectures and group discussions deal with patent searches and application, product liability, the role of technical standards, the FDA regulatory process for medical devices, research and development, and professionalism. This course will typically involve projects related to tissue engineering, optics, biomaterials, and microfluidics. Section 2: Primary component is student design projects in biomedical engineering, with projects focusing on systems level design for physiological sensors, biomechanics, rehabilitation, robotics and human sensory motor control. Also, guest lectures and group discussions deal with patent searches and application, product liability, the role of technical standards, the FDA regulatory process for medical devices, research and development, and professionalism.
