ANTH 264 Public Archaeology and the Africana Experience: Roots, Resistance, Resilience
This course explores local, domestic, and international perspectives on how archaeology can be mobilized to empower communities. The course focuses on close readings of recent scholarship paired with field trips to local heritage sites, including the Frederick Douglass House, the Josiah Henson Museum and Park, the Anacostia Local Museum, and the Go-Go Museum. The goal is to reveal how archaeology can engage the public by connecting past and present through objects, sites, and spaces.
