Filing an Amended Return:
Students or parents who file an amended return near the time of FAFSA submission may not be able to import federal tax information into the FAFSA. Instead, they must submit a signed copy of the tax return or tax return transcript, but because that document only contains the information on the original return, they must also submit a signed copy of the amended tax return and tax account transcript, which contains only the data that was altered. Both documents together can then be used to complete verification.
