Mission Statement
The Office of Global Strategies (OGS)’s mission is to foster a sense of international community that builds on the university's strong intellectual and Catholic mission. OGS advances the international character of the university by promoting, supporting, and developing a wide range of international and intercultural educational opportunities for members of the Catholic University community. OGS coordinates and facilitates university-wide global education by sponsoring international exchanges of students and faculty and serving as a resource for departments and schools on campus that undertake international initiatives.
OGS includes three units. The Education Abroad unit (CUAbroad) develops and administers global educational opportunities overseas for students in coordination with the University’s academic and administrative units and other institutions in the U.S. and abroad. OGS also manages the Rome Center, where students are able not only to take Catholic University courses but also to immerse themselves in the Eternal City. The Intensive English Program (IEP) is an ESL academic program for undergraduate and graduate students who need to increase their English language proficiency before or after admission to a degree-granting program at The Catholic University of America. OGS is also one of the pillars of the Institute for Latin American and Iberian Institutes (ILAIS).
