SOC 309 Sociology of Law
This course examines different approaches to the rule of law and norms in society and pays particular attention to the extent to which laws and norms are often utilized as mechanisms of control. After a discussion of these conceptual issues, the course will investigate the fields of human rights and the debates about market regulation as illustrations of the contention associated with law and society.
