PHIL 302 Introductory Logic

An introduction to deductive logic. Topics include rhetoric and dialectic; definition; use and mention; informal fallacies; the nature of deductive reasoning; syllogistic logic; and propositional logic. Simple predicate logic and inductive methods also considered. Special attention paid to philosophical issues, and the relationship between natural and formal languages. Offered both semesters.
