NURS 772D Primary Care for the Young Child

This is a course offered to prepare students for advanced practice as a family nurse practitioner or primary care pediatric nurse practitioner. The course focuses on comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of common health problems of children in a primary care setting. Concepts and content of well-child maintenance will be explored for specific age groups as well as select common acute illnesses and developmental/behavioral problems presenting in childhood. The client system addressed is the newborn through school age child within a family and community framework.
