ME 670 Theory of Elasticity

This course provides an introduction to the theory of continuum mechanics and elasticity. The concepts of continuum, deformation, strain, stress and equations of motion for a deformable body are presented including a brief review of relevant concepts in algebra and mathematics. It covers also constitutive relations for elastic materials, three-dimensional elasticity, plane strain and plane stress, variational energy principles, and an introduction to thermoelasticity and other multiphysics phenomena.
