ENG 870 African American Literature
The course explores the writings of major twentieth and twenty-first century African American artists: James Weldon Johnson, Langston Hughes, Jean Toomer, Zora Neal Hurston, Richard Wright, Ralph Ellison, James Baldwin, Jimi Hendrix, Gil Scott-Heron, Ishmael Reed, Ernest Gaines, August Wilson, Nikki Giovanni, Natasha Tretheway, Teju Cole, Colson Whitehead, Kendrick Lamar, the Fabulous Negrito, and Suzan-Lori Parks.
