This course deals with basic principles of networking. More specifically it covers the following topics: Network Architectures and Protocols. OSI model and TCP/IP protocol suite. Transmission media. Protocols at the physical, data link, network and transport layers. Multiplexing, error and congestion control. Circuit and packet switching. Local and metropolitan area networks. ATM and frame relay. Network security and distributed applications.
